Laser Hair Removal in Hyderabad: The Ultimate Guide

What is Laser Hair Removal?

Laser Hair Removal refers to the process of removing unwanted hair by using pulses of laser light.

Human body hair serves the purpose of protecting the body against foreign agents and keeping it warm. But often, unwanted hair growth in areas of the face, underarms, legs, and arms results in a cosmetically unappealing look that affects the person’s self-esteem and charm. Additionally, they result in excess sweating and increased acne risk that can irritate the skin further and lead to a wide range of complications.

Razors and depilatory methods are short lasting and give rise to bumps and cuts on the skin surface. On the other hand, laser hair removal methods internally destroy the hair follicles responsible for hair growth to provide permanent hair removal.

But is Laser Hair Removal Safe for the Face?

A question regularly asked by our clientele contacting Manya Aesthetics for laser hair removal in Hyderabad is whether the procedure is safe for the face. And the answer is yes. Laser hair removal is safe for the face. It helps remove hair on the upper lip, chin, and side locks and enables you to obtain smooth facial skin without having to shave it frequently or opt for expensive epilation techniques.

Earlier, laser hair removal on the face was practiced only by women to get rid of unwanted mustaches or unflattering sidelocks. Owing to the increasing corporate world demands, even men have started practicing laser facial hair removal to remove excess facial hair and have a well-trimmed beard or mustache.

How does Laser Hair Removal Work?

Hair generally consists of

Hair follicle – opening on the skin surface through which hair grows

Hair Bulb – expanded portion of the inferior hair follicle containing the matrix and dermal papilla

Hair Strands – part of hair over the skin, visible to the human eye

The dermatologist targets the laser lights at the hair pigments during laser hair removal. The energy of the pulsed light turns into heat, which damages the hair follicles that subsequently leads to a delayed or complete absence of hair growth in the future. Laser Hair removal was introduced by R.Rox. Anderson and Melanie Grossman in 1996 and FDA approved in 1997. It can be used on any part of the body, including the face, legs, and bikini area

Depending on the skin tone and hair type, dermatologists opt for anyone among three types of lasers: Alexandrite, Diode, and Yag.

Types of Lasers Used in Laser Hair Removal

1.  Alexandrite Laser

It gets its name from using an alexandrite crystal as the laser medium, and is considered one of the safest laser hair removal methods.

It produces a wavelength of 755nm and works on the target areas by thermolysis method.

In addition to the face, bikini, neck, back, and chest, underarm laser treatment is a specialty of the alexandrite laser that helps with discoloration and hair removal in underarm regions.

The typical settings include pulse durations of 2 to 20 milliseconds and fluences of 10 to 40 J/cm2.

Extreme caution is recommended in tanned or darker-skinned patients, as the laser can destroy melanin and the hair follicles resulting in white patches of skin.

2.  Diode Laser

Diode laser works on the ‘selective thermolysis’ principle of using specific wavelengths of light to the treatment tissue areas to ensure successful hair removal.

Diode lasers usually target melanin in the hair follicles, which absorbs the laser’s intense heat and damages hair follicles while drawing the radiation away from the skin.

Compared to other lasers, the diode laser offers the deepest penetration and superior melanin absorption owing to its longer pulse length of approximately 810 nm.

The laser works on both light and dark skin. It is more effective in darker, terminal hair than finer, lighter hair.

3.  Yag Laser

Yag Laser uses the longest light wavelengths of all lasers ( 1085 nm ) and thus reaches the deepest skin layers. The laser comes equipped with a Q-switch mode that enables it to produce two wavelengths, one in the infrared range of 1064 nm and the other in a superficial range of 532 nm, out of which the 1069 nm wavelength is more effective for hair removal.

Though suitable for a wide range of hair and skin types, Yag laser works best on dark brown hair and thus is the most recommended laser for Indian skin. Typical settings include 2 to 20 milliseconds pulse durations and fluences of 10¬40 J/cm2

FAQs

How much does Laser Hair Removal Cost?

Laser removal cost is a variable factor that depends on parameters like

  • The type of laser being used.
  • The intensity of hair growth
  • Type of hair ( coarse hairs require more sessions to get rid of successfully )
  • Number of sessions

Our team of professionals works round the clock to ensure you obtain the best laser hair removal in Hyderabad at an affordable cost with long-lasting results.

How Long Does Laser Hair Removal Last?

Most people undergoing hair removal have reported that the final result obtained after the stipulated sessions last several months and sometimes even years. But laser hair removal is not a permanent procedure. At some point, hairs will start growing, though finer and lighter than usual.

Individual results vary based on your treatment area, hair density and thickness, and hormone levels.

How Many Sessions For Laser Hair Removal are Required in General?

Most laser hair removals require an average of 2-4 sessions to destroy the follicles successfully. The interval between each session varies depending on the dermatologist’s treatment plan and the location of laser treatment on the body. E.g., hair on the upper lips grows quickly, requiring repeat treatment in four to eight weeks. The Bikini line has slower hair growth, requiring more time between sessions.

Irrespective of the general hair growth statistics, our team at Manya does a test patch on each person before initiating the treatments to ensure that the laser you have opted for is safe and effective. Does Laser Hair Removal Permanently Remove Hair?

Laser hair removal isn’t permanent, but it is one of the best methods for slowing down hair growth. Over time, the damaged follicles can recover and grow hair of a thinner texture again, and you may need to undergo repeat laser sessions to maintain your cosmetic appearance.

Several dermatologists providing laser hair removal services advise follow-up visits to monitor the laser effects and hair growth phases.

Is Laser Hair Removal Painful?

Laser hair removal is less painful than waxing. But patients report mild discomfort during the sessions, similar to a sensation of a rubber band snapping on the skin surface. The area of treatment and your tolerance levels decide your pain during active laser treatment.

Our team of professionals at Manya Aesthetics have vast experience in conducting hair removal sessions and ensure that you obtain the best laser treatment in Hyderabad with minimum disturbances.
