Causes

Excessive underarms sweating is mainly caused due to genetics and can be treated through laser treatment. It is also caused by stress and PCOS hormones in women.

1.Laser Treatment: Laser treatment will permanently stop excessive sweating in your underarms.

2.Botox injections: Botox is injected into the skin of your underarms which makes it tighter, thereby blocking the pores so as to not release too much sweat.

What to expect

Laser treatment uses a laser to destroy your sweat glands present in your armpits. After the procedure you will feel a little pain but this will subside eventually. The process will last atleast for an hour. Your doctor will also give you an anaesthetic during the procedure.

In order to control excessive underarm sweat you will be given Botox injection in your underarms. The Botox will make the under your armpits feel tighter but will effectively control and restrict the outflow of excessive sweat.

Time frame

Laser treatment will take around 4-5 sessions in order to get a significant solution to the problem of excessive underarm sweating. The whole treatment can be completed within a span of 6 months.

Botox injections will be needed by the patient for a prolonged period of time. After a single session, the patient will notice a positive change within the first 2 weeks itself. The patient might have to take ongoing injections for a period of 9-12 months.

Side effects

Side effects to laser treatment include some redness and itchy sensation.

You will feel temporary pain in your underarms after the procedure as it requires many injections to pierce through your armpits. Other side effects include the feeling of tightness and discomfort in your underarms.
